When a teacher, exiled to the remote tropical north of Queensland for a past indiscretion, develops a dangerous relationship with one of her students (though some see it as liberating), tempting him with knowledge of an outside world he has never known, it pits townsfolk against townsfolk, mother against father, and education department against teacher for the boy's very soul.
